Project management is an incredibly complex field.
Not only do those new to the industry have to learn specialized language such as “Lean project management” and “Agile software development,” but they also have to navigate how to manage a team to deliver projects on time, on budget, and with quality.
When I started to specialize in reviewing project management software a few years ago, I began the onboarding process as many new hires do: with online research. I quickly discovered that sorting through the hundreds—yes, hundreds!—of online project management resources to find quality advice is exhausting.
I needed to learn industry jargon, navigate different project management certifications, and memorize workflows. I did not need to read about a once-prolific retired project manager’s daily life or scroll through a project management tool’s blog that only contained company updates.
So I began to filter through all the online project management resources to search for regularly updated, premium-quality content. Less than 20% of reviewed content made it to my RSS feed.
And now I’m ready to share these resources with you.
The best project management blogs
I don’t use the term “best” lightly, but the qualifications to get on this list were stringent. I’m confident that the sites reviewed in this post represent the most useful project management blogs available. Period.
I used the following qualifications:
- The blog must regularly update. No blogs made this list that hadn’t published at least one post per month in the past year.
- The blog must be user-friendly. Great blogs load quickly and are easy to read and navigate.
- The blog must be an established authority. I used domain authority to filter out young, unpopular, or small sites without a lot of content. All sites that made this list have a domain authority of 30 or above. I made an exception for individual bloggers, who don’t have a product to help boost their site traffic and lowered the cutoff to 27. For individual bloggers with free blog sites, no domain authority is listed.
- The parent site (if applicable) must be specific to project management. I chose to only review sites that have a built-in project management focus, filtering out many leadership sites that occasionally touch on the subject.
- The blog must provide “useful” content. There are plenty of project management software blogs that center on the product updates, training blogs that exclusively talk about their courses or individual bloggers who mix project management tips in with their online diary. I looked for sites that, over the past year, put out 80% “useful” content to project managers, including how-tos, guides, roundups, and opinion pieces.
With all these filters in place, my research guided me to these 58 project management blogs. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
They are organized by Moz score within each category.
- 21 most useful project management blogs from individual contributors
- 9 most useful project management blogs from PM training and consulting companies
- 17 most useful project management blogs from PM software vendors
- 11 most useful online project management communities
- What project management blogs and communities did I miss?

A very nice read, I must say There is no denying the fact that these platforms are flexible and give teams especially the corporate ones a unique base to manage projects, folders, messages, sales and all the other major departments that govern a business end to end. And what’s heartening to see is the emergence of startups entering this domain and coming up with solutions that provide users with a bucketful of options to choose from. Example : in my pursuit of exploring such startups, I came across Samayla(https://www.samayla.com), a management tool which honestly is a potential option for organisations in the development of their business models. This and many such anecdotes have convinced me that there is a very bright future ahead for this domain of the corporate world.

Quite decent. All the blogs you mentioned can be used as ready resources for project managers to help them with everyday stuff. One thing that I would like to add is, every section can talk in detail about the key offering of every blog. Moreover, there is plenty of scope for expansion. Personally, I follow the ProProfs Project management blog quite often. I found their coverage of the domain to be pretty decent, as they talk more about mistakes in project management, essential skills and tips and tricks related to everyday management.
