As your number of IT assets grows – computers, monitors, laptops, even mobile devices – it can be hard to keep track of everything. Who is using which device? When was that device purchased? When might it need to be replaced?
If you’re finding yourself asking similar questions, it may be time to invest in IT Asset Management Software (ITAM). These solutions keep track of your IT inventory and can help make important decisions about purchasing, redistribution, and disposal.
There are hundreds of ITAM solutions on the market. With so many options, it can be challenging to know which is best for the size of your business and your number of assets. We’ve dug in and researched the Top 20 Most Popular ITAM Solutions to help you out in the beginning stages of your own software search.
Our infographic is not meant to replace your own research – the most popular solutions are not always the best fit for your needs. Instead, this is meant to be a high-level overview of the industry and some of the big players in it.
Take a look at our methodology below, and check out this blog post written by our CEO to get a better idea of how we perform this Top 20 research.
We developed this ranking using our unique Popularity Index, which produces a weighted score for each vendor based on the following metrics:
- Number of current customers (companies/organizations with an active license)
- Number of active users (IT administrators and other employees of the customer companies who engage with the software)
- Social media presence (Facebook likes, Twitter followers, Google +1s, LinkedIn followers, Klout scores, and number of Capterra reviews).
Customers and users each make up 40% of the final score. Each social component accounts for 3.33% of the total score, and added together makes up the remaining 20%. The social numbers are pulled a few weeks before launch, and are as accurate as possible given the launch date.
The research is open to all vendors listed in our ITAM software directory. Each vendor is given the opportunity to provide conservative estimates of their customer and user numbers. If any number seems inflated or unlikely, we push back on that vendor to provide a more reasonable estimate. In cases where vendors are unable to provide a certain number, we provide our own estimates (highlighted below) based on publicly available information and our own industry average.
It is reasonable to assume all numbers in this table are estimates. However, we believe they are the best estimates currently available. Though imperfect, they provide a reasonable reflection of the market when combined.
We update our infographics a few times per year. Let us know if you think we missed any “big players” here!
