For the past two years,  I’ve consulted Capterra’s software vendors on how to manage their marketing campaigns. In terms of the industries I’ve covered, let’s just say I’ve cast a wide net. From Bakery to Aviation, Fleet Management to LMS, I’ve worked on marketing campaigns for all types of software.

As of late, I’ve had the opportunity to speak with a number of my clients in the Talent Management space. These opportunities brought me to the following realization… I knew very little about Talent Management systems.

3 functional components unified hr

As it turns out, Talent Management is an integrated platform of products that helps an organization encompass all of their HR needs – such as recruiting, educating, and retaining employees. According to a recent Forbes article, only 13% of organizations have one unified HR system. By and large, most organizations have at least 2-4 different systems set up to accomplish all of their HR management needs. As a result, many HR software solutions that were once sold separately are now being combined into one comprehensive suite of products, with functionality aimed at accomplishing the following three talent management responsibilities:

Recruiting and Applicant Tracking

Building a strong organization starts with hiring the right people. Through the use of Talent Management software, your HR department and Recruitment team are in a better position to set consistent hiring standards. By using the built-in talent evaluation tools, your team can identify where your most promising recruits typically come from. And with that knowledge, you’ll be able to focus your recruiting more on those channels in order to target the right new hires… making the process more efficient!

Learning Management and Training

Continued education of employees drives growth and directly impacts an organization’s bottom line. Learning management and training programs allow a company to create customized training programs and streamline distribution of training, making it easy for your HR department to monitor and pull reports on ongoing training initiatives. With learning management functionality, you’ll be able to track the performance and development of your staff starting the day they’re hired!

Performance Appraisal

Most organizations still use paper-based models to evaluate employee performance and give reviews. This can be time consuming! Talent Management software can help improve and track goal alignment, ensuring both management and employees understands how your company goals align with with performance expectations.
